Description
This Tater Tot Casserole is a quick and easy dinner that brings together crispy golden tater tots, savory ground beef, creamy mushroom soup, and melted cheddar cheese. Perfect for busy weeknights, this family-friendly comfort food takes just 45 minutes from start to finish.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- Salt and ground black pepper to taste
- 1 (16 ounce) package frozen tater tots
- 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook the Beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef until browned and crumbly, about 7–10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Add Soup and Seasoning: Stir in condensed mushroom soup, then season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Assemble the Casserole: Spread the beef mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer over the beef.
- Top with Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly across the tater tots.
- Bake: Bake uncovered for 30–45 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbling, and the tater tots are golden brown.
- Rest and Serve: Let casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving for cleaner slices. Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
For a vegetarian version, replace the beef with sautéed mushrooms, beans, or lentils. To keep the tots crisp, bake uncovered and allow the casserole to rest before cutting. This dish freezes well, assemble ahead, wrap tightly, and bake later when ready.
